5 Most Popular Drones in April 2017

After thoroughly analyzing the first half of this month, we have come up with a list of the best-selling drones in April 2017. The list features 5 most popular models. Not surprisingly, it’s filled with DJI’s flagships as well as the GoPro newcomer.

Below you can find all of them listed out with their basic characteristics explained in an easy to read manner. So, without much further adue, let’s take a glance at the best-selling drones of April 2017!

5. MJX Bugs 3

We are starting off with Bugs 3 by MJX. It’s an entry level drone that features incredibly power underneath the hood as well as an awesome design that will look cool to teenagers and adults alike. It has been coming up in the market for quite awhile and has exploded in the recent couple of months.

With sales growing rapidly, especially in the first half of April, MJX Bugs 3 seems like it won’t stop. But what’s so good about it? Well for starters, it runs on a brushless MT1806 1800KV motor. It ensures low friction and heat production as well as great power efficiency. The only downside is the fact that it does not come with a camera. That might drive away some people but luckily, MJX Bugs 3 provides a mounting setup for GoPro’s and other action cameras so using it as an aerial platform is still viable.

With about 18 minutes of flight time due to its 1800mAH LiPo battery, it is quite clear that MJX Bugs 3 offers quite the bang for your bucks. Combine that with up to 500 meters of operating range and you got yourself a winner!

4. DJI Phantom 4

Even though the Pro version of DJI Phantom 4 has been released and is collecting nothing but praises from customers and critics, the standard version is still more popular. Why is that so? Well, one of the biggest reasons must be the more affordable price tag, believe it or not. I won’t get into that discussion though, now is not the time or the place for that. Instead, I’ll just guide you through some of the key aspects of DJI Phantom 4.

Starting off with the features, Phantom 4 incorporates everything you’ll ever need from a drone. It includes GPS, smart flight modes, auto takeoff, auto return to home, steady hover, DJI director (video editor) and plenty more. Of course, it comes with a class A camera that records 4K at 30fps and is mounted on a 3-axis gimbal stabilization system.

Stepping away from the features, DJI Phantom 4 proves to excel at sheer performance as well. The smart battery has approximately 28 minutes of runtime which is at the very top of the food chain. Likewise, with up to 5 kilometers of unobstructed area to fly in, DJI Phantom 4 ends up at the 4th spot on this list.

3. DJI Phantom 3 Pro

Even more popular than its newer brother Phantom 4, DJI Phantom 3 Pro comes at us from the 3rd spot on the list. This brilliant model features a ton of features as everyone would expect from a premium drone. With an insanely stable 4K aerial footage provided by the 4K UHD camera mounted on a 3-axis stabilizer, DJI Phantom 3 Pro packs quite the punch regarding aerial photography.

Additionally, it also excels at being an FPV wonder with DJI Lightbridge digital streaming. What this allows is live HD stream as well as recording on the microSD card (included in the package). With a plethora of built-in features and functions, DJI Phantom 3 Pro puts most brand-new models to the test… and ends up victorious. Lastly, the Pro version comes with several advantages in terms of specifications. The range has been improved to massive 5 kilometers (same as Phantom 4). Additionally, the battery can run for about 23 minutes which is actually lower than the standard version. This is due to a better camera and more features that use up battery juice quicker.

2. GoPro Karma

GoPro’s entrance to the drone market has been nothing short of a disaster… After having major issues when they’ve first released Karma, they had to correct the mess they’ve made and rerelease it. Luckily, things seem much better now and it’s not surprising to see it at the very top of best-sellers this month.

Even though its main competitor is still miles ahead in terms of overall quality and popularity, GoPro Karma still looks solid and stands good on the market. Come to think of it, it’s not that surprising actually. With the Hero5 Black, a dedicated stabilization system and a foldable design, many of you will at least consider purchasing it.

If not for that, then surely for Karma Grip and/or case which move the subject off of drones and onto handheld and body-mounted footage. But, with DJI Mavic Pro as the main competitor (and we all know just how popular it is), I still don’t see GoPro Karma as a winner. It’s a good drone, that’s for sure. But, when compared to DJI Mavic Pro, it simply lacks the awe factor!

1. DJI Mavic Pro

DJI Mavic Pro has been a major success ever since the release day so it is nothing surprising to see it ranking first in this month’s selling charts. This amazing miniature drone has already captured the hearts of many and from the looks of it, it is not planning on stopping any time soon.

It’s basically a shrunk down version of DJI Phantom 4 Pro with all features and functions and just a smaller package. This is what drove so many people – it is extremely mobile and very easy to carry around with you no matter where you go. Plus, it is, by far, the best foldable drone out there.

With up to 7 kilometers of range, 27 minutes of flight time and amazing top speed of roughly 40mph, it is quite obvious that DJI Mavic Pro is not a joke! So, if you’re travelling all the time and you’d like a travel companion that will allow your inner photographer come to life, wait no more and go for the world’s smallest and smartest drone – DJI Mavic Pro!
