Small & easy to controll
JJRC H29G is sized between a micro and mini drone. Great for both indoor and outdoor flights this small quadcopter packs all you need for a complete real-time video transmission Toy flight experience. It is also a good idea to learn and practice with quadcopters like this before moving on to a higher budget FPV drone. Besides being small (28.5 x 28 x 9.5 cm) and easy to control, H29G is also very lightweight (around 100 grams), consequently there is no need for FAA registration to fly this drone. H29G has a nice hover, beginners won’t take long to learn how the quadcopter moves and how much input it needs to stay balanced in air. If it crashes (and if you are a beginner it will) it’s okay! H29G has ABS Plastic protective frames around the motors and propellers, ensuring it won’t break or bend easily. Landing gear is also made in ABS Plastic and is capable of resistant most crashes and hits.
First of all, let’s start by discussing the First Person View. H29G includes its own 2MP camera capable of recording in 720p resolution and display FPV video in the monitor at the same time. Camera video is good quality, much better than some other same-price FPV drones, but it does have some occasional low ‘jello-effect’, nothing to worry about however. FPV video is also good quality and has practically no delay (depending on the area where you are flying in and obstacles it may face to transmission). Most low-cost FPV drones use pilot’s Android or iOS has a monitor for live video. But not H29G, JJRC has included a built-in 4.3” FPV screen into the 2.4 GHz remote controller. Therefore, a complete real-time video transmission drone package. Live video transmits in 5.8 GHz frequency and has almost no latency, so pilot is capable of actually flying FPV without looking at the drone only at the live video. Screen also displays drone’s real-time battery and it signals when drone is recording video or not.
Battery and safety functions
Talking about battery, JJRC H29G has a great safe function, when the drone is running low on battery, instead of just dropping, H29G gradually loses altitude and lands when battery hits 0%. This is very useful to avoid hard crashes and hits due to low power. H29G uses a 3.7V 300mAh lipo battery but it is also compatible with the 450mAh. It has a flight time of 6 to 8 minutes, depending on the type of battery and the camera and FPV usage. Obviously, recording aerial video and using FPV at the same time will always decrease battery time. For “normal” flights where there is no need to record video or fly FPV, H29G flight time will be bigger. On the other hand, H29G is amazingly simple and quick to charge. It can be charged via USB (just plug it to your computer) and only takes about 40 minutes to charge. Due to its small size and short charging time, H29G is a great drone to take for a holiday. The remote controller also has its own battery, most controllers use regular batteries, but H29G uses its own 3.7V 500mah or 1000mAh LiPo battery.
JJRC always takes features into consideration, usually including a useful set of features on every drone it produces. H29G is no exception. Besides the already common LED lights and 360º stunt, this affordable and fun drone also features Headless Mode (for easier orientation despite where drone’s nose is pointing at) and One-Key Return (drone returns to pilot). The usual set of features needed in every Toy Grade drone in 2016. Headless Mode will help beginners control the quadcopter (although if you truly want to learn how to control a drone it is advised to also learn non-headless mode).
On top of all the great functions mentioned until now, H29G also has a good control distance, as expected from a JJRC product. H29G 2.4GHz remote controller provides a good controlling range around 150 meters, great controlling distance, a bit above the average controlling distance on other same-price FPV drones. This is why One-Key Return is useful. Losing track of your H29G, not problem, it can return back to you!
What do you think of H29G? It’s one of the most recent FPV products from JJRC alongside other amazing drones such as JJRC X1 (brushless drone), H11D, H8D and the H26D already mentioned previously.
